The county government of Mombasa has budged Sh35 million to be given to youth in support of their enterprises.
The Youth Revolving Fund according to governor Hassan Joho will be disbursed to registered youth groups.
The money will support businesses initiated by youth with the objective of uplifting their livelihood.
Beneficiary groups will repay the cash so that Small and Medium Enterprises which wouldn't have benefited in the first round of disbursement also receive.
"The county government of Mombasa is about to disburse Sh35 million from the Youth Revolving Fund through the Department of Youth, Gender and Sports to encourage entrepreneurship among the youth," Joho said on Saturday after issuing out bursary cheques worth over Sh100 million to students from Mombasa.
The youth loan initiative according to the county boss is among initiatives his office will implement in ensuring young people who indulge in drug abuse start earning a living and subsequently quit law breaking.
He said the future of the county lies in the hands of the young people who he added had the energy to work and transform the economy of the Coastal county.
He was speaking during a youth forum convened by the county government on Saturday.
