Nyamira County government has purchased drugs valued at Sh62.8 million to be supplied to all 110 public health centers in the County.
KEMSA supplied the drugs to the county on Thursday. Governor John Nyagarama said the drugs will not be sold to patients seeking medical care at health facilities.
“We have now enough drugs in store to serve those seeking medical services at public health facilities. Residents should visit the county health centers to be treated of their various ailments,” said the Governor.
He urged workers at the public health centers not to sell the drugs to private clinics.
“Any private clinic found buying drugs from public health centers will be closed down and the owners be arrested to produce those selling the drugs to them.
"Theft of drugs should be a past tense because the drugs are meant for public health centers which should be given for free to patients,” said the ODM governor.
He added that the county was almost running out of drugs because the national government delayed releasing funds to the counties to buy drugs.
