Governor Jack Ranguma made the decision following complaints from members of the public about shoddily-done roads and cases where some contractors have abandoned duties mid way and relocated from the sites.

According to a communiqué from the Governor’s Press Unit, the county government through the Ministry of Roads has taken over the works that were being done by some of the rogue contractors across the county.

County Director of Communication Denis Onyango said as part of the improvements done, the county has employed a new technology known as the Cobblestone technology to do some of the roads.

“We have used this technology especially on the roads in Nyalenda, working with the local youth for labour,” he said.

Other roads already completed are the 60-kilometre Nyang’oma-Masogo-Chemelil road, and up to four main roads crisscrossing Migosi and Lolwe estates.

“In total, the county government has done 760 kilometers of road which includes opening up new ones and rehabilitating old ones,” said Onyango.

Several earth movers have been bought by the county government in order to see this new resolve succeed.
