Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has expressed the need for the county to enter into a partnership with telecommunications giant, Safaricom that will help enhance revenue collection.
Chemno further said they are working on going cashless and receipt-less in every transaction.
He also hinted at the possibility of partnering with telecommunications companies on bulky messaging for the efficient flow of information.
Speaking when Safaricom Rift Region officials paid him a courtesy call on Friday, the Deputy Governor said almost all learning institutions offer ICT related courses and that the county has sufficient manpower.
"We can partner with Safaricom and National Government to establish an ICT hub in Eldoret, this will generate jobs," he said.
County Executive in charge of ICT Dr. Emily Kogos who was also present requested Safaricom to establish an ICT center at the Eldoret library in partnership with the County Government.
"We have a big hall at the library which can be utilized and provide internet. It will be very resourceful to our students," she said.
Victor Ngumo, Safaricom's Head of Department, Rift Region said: "we have initiated legacy projects in areas of health and education involving public participation and citizens nominated their preferred projects."
"We have invested Sh4 billion in Uasin Gishu. We want to see the best we can work with the county to ensure revenue collection target is attained," he added.
