Senior officer in Nakuru County’s Ministry of Public Service, Philip Sigei has challenged Civil servants to from their own Sacco as one way of enhancing their financial security.
Sigei said that the County workers should think of forming Nakuru County Workers Sacco saying that it is the only way of empowering civil servants.
Speaking on Friday evening during a Nakuru civil servants induction workshop at Naivasha, Sigei said that Nakuru being one of the largest counties in the country has a good number of civil servants who can form a big Sacco.
“In modern world, Saccos have remained as the sole means through which people get financial empowerment and I want to call upon civil servants in Nakuru County to think of joining hands and having their own Sacco because through Sacco’s you can do a lot of things which you would not have been able to do on your own,” said Sigei.
Sigei said the county civil servants in the eleven constituencies were enough to even start a bank of their own.
“This idea can be taken lightly, but I want to tell you that you have what it takes to own your own bank which will have branches in all the eleven sub-counties and we will have also created employments to hundreds of our people,” said Sigei.
The induction workshop was aimed at enlightening county civil servants about functions of Nakuru County government
