The Machakos County commissioner Matilda Sakwa has applauded the residents for maintaining peace and avoiding protests by Cord against IEBC.

Speaking while addressing the press on Wednesday, Sakwa terming the demonstrations towards the IEBC offices as unlawful. 

"There is no a single commissioner in the Machakos IEBC offices among those being questioned and therefore protesting towards the offices is just disruption of peace in our area. The police boss further stated that the officers will not hesitate to ensure peace and security is maintained in Machakos and bits environs. 

"I believe Machakos residents embrace peace and despite Political fueling to engage in protests in the coming days we will maintain peace," she added.

On Monday, the police blocked a session of protestors led by Machakos Deputy governor Bernard Kiala from entering Mulu Mutisya gardens where a briefing was to be made before heading over the IEBC offices. 

The Cord political party which has strong support from this area as Wiper Democratic Movement supporters has for the past three weeks held demonstrations against the electoral body for lack of faith in the same to hold the 2017 general elections.
