Security agencies in Uasin Gishu county have warned that stern actions will be taken against individuals who will be found selling alcohol to children.
Turbo Sub-county Deputy County Commissioner Gideon Ombongi has further warned that bars and other alcohol-selling joints that if found with illegal substances, they will face the full force of the law.
Speaking in Eldoret on Thursday, Ombongi said the security team in the county has agreed with the county government to work closely and ensure strict adherence to the law by bar owners and other alcohol-selling places.
"It's illegal to sell alcohol to children and if found be sure you will be dealt with accordingly," Ombongi warned.
"We have agreed to pull resources together especially during this festive season where there is always a tendency of lawlessness among businesses involved in the sale of alcohol," he added.
The deputy county commissioner further said they will be conducting regular multi-agency operations in Eldoret town and other major urban centers across the county in a bid to curb the sale of illicit liquor.
"We know how fatal this illicit alcohol can be at times and as a precautionary measure we have agreed to be doing impromptu operations to ensure none is sold to unsuspecting locals," he said.
