This move was triggered by the County Assembly committee on Lands and Housing under the chairmanship of Hells Gate MCA Jonathan Warothe.

Earlier this week, the committee summoned the County Executive for Lands Racheal Maina and County Secretary Joseph Motari in order to shed light on frequent land squabbles in the county.

Maina revealed that the custodian of all parcels of land owned by the defunct Local Authorities was the county secretary and so he is supposed to furnish the committee with the necessary information on the same.

“Apart from the public utility lands owned by the county government now, copies of allotment letters should be given to the county lands department so that it is easier to address emerging land concerns in the county. Now members of the public are forced to visit offices of the defunct local authorities in Nakuru, Molo and Naivasha,” said Warothe.

The move targets all the authorities that existed in Nakuru County prior to devolution.
