The Mombasa County government has erected a state-of-the-art flyover at Buxton area, in a bid to ease traffic flow and reduce the number of cases of accidents in the area.

Mombasa County Transport and Infrastructure CeC Tawfiq Balala said Nyali, Mishomoroni and Kongowea residents are set to be among the greatest beneficiaries of the project.

The CeC said the county is also constructing other flyovers in Kisauni, Changamwe, Likoni and Kongowea, with the aim of tackling traffic congestion in the region.

He said the county government is dedicated to improving the resident's living conditions, as well as infrastructure in the region.

"We are constructing other flyovers in Likoni, Kisauni, Changamwe and Kongowea. Our aim is to improve the living standards of the common Mwananchi," he said.

The county head of inspectorate Nahid Musa said they have also set up fire stations in Likoni, Kisauni, and Changamwe, but the three areas were difficult to access because of the increased flow of traffic to different areas especially Likoni Ferry.

"Our target in good support by our able governor was putting up fully standardized fire stations at logistical areas which were not easily accessed due to heavy traffic," said Musa, as quoted by The Star.
