The county government of Marsabit has defended the transfer of 18 middle-level officials as some of the workers are against the decision.
County government spokesperson Issa Gambare said the move is meant to improve service delivery to the residents adding that the transfers were normal and that the government had the authority to manage county employees.
Mr. Gambare said the officials were transferred in offices where they will be more suitable and effective in executing their mandate.
He said that middle-level officials should comply with the directive without any resistance and report to their new workstations.
“Every officer should accept the call to serve in offices that have been found suitable for them. Improvement of service delivery to our people can only be done when we have people serving them without hesitation.”
“Everyone should report to their new offices without causing any fracas and by all means, the government will ensure that happens,” Mr. Gambore said as quoted by Daily Nation.
County Secretary Malicha Boru was on Wednesday, April 17, summoned by Marsabit County Public Service Board over the transfers.
Mr. Boru has been summoned to explain the transfers of the officials as the Board alleges that the transfer was effected without due procedure.
The officials who are against the transfer have accused the county government of ethnically discriminating against them.
