News on various social media platforms alleged that the biggest health facility in Garissa County had gone on '‘Idd mode’' and that no staff was in sight to attend to patients.

In a press statement posted to newsrooms and signed by the County director of Communications, Yussuf Korow, the county department of health services denied the allegations and termed them as false, malicious and meant to taint the image of Garissa.

Korow firmly stated that the Garissa facility manned by a capable team of four professional clinical officers and additional ten nurses on standby to respond to any emerging case.

“Since the Idd celebrations kicked off on Tuesday, staff at the Garissa hospital have been on duty and have so far managed to deliver a total of 18 babies, 7 of them through caesarean processes and also attended to over 94 cases on outpatient and 32 others on inpatient. There was no case of loss of life,’' said Korow.

‘'This means the hospital facility was fully functional and work is progressing smoothly as required,’' he added.

He, however, appealed to the public to stay away from such misleading information circulated by hate mongers out to plunge the county to a state of confusion.
