Kakamega county government has denied naming former AFC Leopards and Harambee Stars forward Allan Wanga to the county's director of sports office.
Sports CEC Robert Sumbi dismissed the claims and said he was not aware of the information that has been circulating on social media since Thursday.
According to the Star, Sumbi said that anyone being appointed for any county job must first be vetted by the county public service board.
"As the minister in charge of sports I'm not privy to such information," he said on Friday.
"For now, I am not aware of anything of that sort. So, I am not in a position to comment on that," Sumbi added.
Communication director Dickson Rayori dismissed the information as fake news and added that the county has not made the said appointment.
