An alleged list of enforcement officers secretly hired by Nyamira county government two weeks ago has been leaked to the public and is being circulated in the social media.
The list indicates that 120 officers had been recruited and posted to various market centres and towns in the county.
According to the copy, which allegedly has the rubber stamp of the county secretary, the officers were allegedly deployed by Roads and Public Works executive Kefa Osoro.
The county public service board chairman, Peter Nyakundi, has however dismissed the list saying it is only the board which has the mandate of hiring county workers.
He said, “As far as we are concerned, we have not conducted any recruitment and for people to talk about a list that is not there is overstretching the truth.” he said.
The executives are said to have taken advantage of the raging disagreement between the county executive and the board to hire workers without the input of the board.
Osoro also dismissed the list saying it is the mandate of the board to recruit but not him.
“If indeed I hired anyone, the purported copy could bear the rubber stamp of my department, not that of the county secretary,” he said.
