The County government of Uasin Gishu has termed as fake notices circulating in Eldoret town indicating that it is planning to evict individuals occupying county houses and markets.

According to Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno, the notices are being circulated by individuals out to gain political mileage ahead of the general elections.

Speaking to the press at the County headquarters in Eldoret town, Monday, Chemno said the county has no plan to ask individuals occupying its houses or markets to move out.

"Those notices are fake. They have no reference number and the letter head not the standard one that we use for our official communication a clear indication that they are part of propaganda being used by our competitors," Chemno noted.

Similar sentiments were shared by the County's Trade CeC Phillip Melly and his Housing counterpart Robert Ng'isirey.

"We have no plans to renovate or reallocate people in the markets. Renovations were done three years ago and all our markets are in good condition," said Mr Melly.

In the notices, individuals occupying county houses and markets have been asked to move out by July 30th.

"The county government of Uasin Gishu wishes to notify all market traders that all market places should be closed by 30 July 2017 for renovations and rearrangement/reallocation of the market stalks until further notice," read one of the notices signed by Trade CeC Phillip Melly.
