The county government of Nyamira has dismissed claims on leaflets being circulated, accusing the John Nyagarama-led administration of corruption. Refuting the graft allegations, county secretary Eric Onchana dismissed the leaflets as pure political propaganda meant to damage the reputation of the county governor. “There are leaflets that have been going round the county alleging that the county government is corrupt and I want to say that those are propaganda by people who do not have the interest of our county and are now on a mission to spoil the name of our governor, John Nyagarama,” said Onchana. In a statement to the press in Nyamira, Ochana said the county government is legally and democratically constituted contrary to the claims made by the authors of the leaflets. Onchana also denied the claims contained in the leaflets that some of the governor's family members are involved in embezzling money meant for the people of the county. He also assured residents of Nyamira that the county government of Nyamira is corruption free.
