The County Government of Kisumu has disowned one of the youths who disrupted a press conference convened by a civil society group in Kisumu.
The county chief officer for communication George Akongo said the youth, John Odidi is not an employee of the county government.
Akongo said he is dismayed by media reports that Odidi is an aide to Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma, noting that he is not in the payroll of the county, and an effort to link him with Ranguma is unfortunate.
“Where do media get reports that Odidi is our employee that is baffling? Let me make this clear that he is not our employee,” he said.
Akongo said that the group of Odidi and some other youths continue to be seen in the corridors of the gpvernor’s office, and that should not be misconstrued to be that they are employees of the county government.
He has in the meantime written to the head of security at the governor’s office to ensure that such youthd are not seen loitering along the corridors or near the governor’s vehicles.
“We are taking measures to ensure these youths keep off hanging at the governor’s office. The utterances he made were his own opinion,” he said.
Odidi, alongside another youth on Sunday last week disrupted a press conference organized by civil societies to summon Governor Ranguma for a public forum.
