Four former Kisumu County employees, among them, suspended Speaker Anne Adul have been cleared of a fraud charges by a Kisumu court.
The former County Assembly Public Service Board employees were found not guilty of stealing Sh17.4 million through a controversial tender awarded to a firm at the County Assembly.
Ms Adul, Nelco Sagwe, suspended Majority Leader Samuel Ong'ow and Minority Whip Edwin Anayo had been charged of unprocedurally awarding the tender that cost the county government the over Sh17 million.
They were further faced with chargers of spending public funds to take county employees to Israel, Singapore and China.
Chief Magistrate Thomas Obutu said the evidence was conflicting hence it was not valid to be used against the accused.
"The case is brimming with gaps. The weight of confirmation lies with the indictment. I can't call upon the guard to fill these gaps," Mr Obutu said in his ruling.
