The County Government of Nakuru has  donated materials towards the constructing of modern stalls and bodaboda sheds at Maili Kumi in Bahati following  a fire that razed down kiosks in the area.

County Chief of Staff Gichuhi Njoroge and Trade, Industrialization, Tourism and Wildlife Management, Chief Officer Edith Kimani toured the area to assess the damage.

Led by Youth, Culture, Gender, Sports and Social Services CEC Ms Halima Gababa, the county officials presented the construction materials.

County Director of political affairs Beatrice Nyawira said the county will soon seek the intervention of the National Land Commission in repossessing public land in the hands of individuals.

Ms Nyawira said once the parcels of land are reclaimed, markets, toilets, and stadiums will be set up to benefit the public.

"The county lost hundreds of acres of land during the municipal government era and the transition period. But I can affirm that Governor Lee Kinyanjui is committed to seeing the land back to the government," she said.

Bahati constituency office manager Njuguna Mwalimu said area MP Kimani Ngunjiri would supplement the county’s efforts to see the traders back on their feet.

Others present at the function were area MCA John Ndonyo alias Segesa, nominated MCAs Grace Mwathi and Rose Karugi, personal assistant to the governor James Mwaura, ward admins among others.
