Ngeserey said that contractors must follow rules for safety of tenants and the public.

He said the county government will deal with rogue contractors adding that a notice on the same has been circulated.

“We want to ensure that all buildings in the county adhere to the laid down standards,” said Ngeserey.

The executive added that an exercise to mark houses and buildings that were not approved by the Ministry of Housing will start soon.

“We will soon start demolition of buildings that were not approved by the government,” warned Ngeserey.

The executive also urged tenants to stop occupying buildings that are still under construction.

He said that action will be taken against landlords who lease and rent their premises while construction is not complete.

Ngeserey said all the precaution measures are being taken to avert disasters associated to poor construction.
