This was the message of locals and traders of Kisii who are irritated by the sluggishness of the county government to address the issue of clogged drainage systems.

They said that some parts of the town were impassable. They have faulted the government for allegedly doing nothing to curb the menace.

“Are we waiting for disaster to occur so that the issue can be addressed? As the rains pour the more we are worried. Our county government we know has money but the leaders do not put the interests of the people at hand,” said Grace Moroni, a resident.

“The county government with the set allocated money should construct good drainage systems that will ensure the water is channeled out safely,” Kevin Too said.

They said most of them have made losses in their businesses and want the issue addressed urgently.
