Kisii county Governor James Ongwae has said his county government has formed a task force to survey the status of all buildings and those that are under construction in Kisii town and other urban centers in the county.
The taskforce comprises of 18 members led by Chris Choge and is expected to conduct the survey and give the report to Kisii county Governor James Ongwae within 10 days.
The survey is to be done after a 10 story building collapsed in Kisii town over one week ago and killed eight people and injured others.
“We have formed a task force that is gong to survey the buildings and those that are under construction because we don’t need to lose more lives," Governor Ongwae told the press in Kisii town
“We take the responsibility of the county government to take care of resident’s lives,” he added
Ongwae called on residents to join and work with the task force members to make the exercise successful.
