The county government of Machakos has received free fuel worth Sh250,000 from Shell Fuel and Lubricants Company.
The company is having a nationwide promotion to its customers.
In the promotion, during a period of an hour within a day, the company offers free fuel to its customers. Any customer who visits the petrol station during that particular hour gets free fuel.
Speaking during the promotion on Tuesday, county executive in charge of lands, energy, environment and natural resources George Kioko said that the fuel will be used by county ambulances and other government vehicles. He also added that companies should meet their social responsibilities to promote social and economic developments in our society.
The residents of Machakos town also benefited from the promotion and received free fuel worth Sh300,000. Bodaboda and taxi operators, as well as PSVs from the town flocked the Shell petrol station in the town to receive the free fuel.
The marketing manager for Vivo energy, Mark Senteu, said that the company is planning to open new Shell petrol stations in Machakos, Kitui and Makueni counties.
