Naivasha MCA Simon Wanyoike has given the Nakuru County government 14 days notice to relocate a dumpsite in the sub-county.
The ward representative complained that the dumpsite has become a health hazard to residents living around it.
Addressing the press at Naivasha town yesterday, the MCA said residents are at risk of contracting diseases if the dumpsite is not relocated.
“We have given the Nakuru county government a 14-day notice to relocate the dumpsite failure to which we will stage demonstrations in Naivasha,” said Wanyoike.
The MCA said that Naivasha residents have a right to a clean environment and that the presence of the dumpsite is affecting their living.
Wanyoike added that dumpsite has become a breeding ground for petty criminals. He accused the county government of taking too long to relocate the dumpsite.
“We have waited for long as the county governor promises to relocate the dumpsite, we can no longer wait as the lives of residents are at risk,” added Wanyoike.
