The Machakos County government has been asked open the Matuu Level Four hospital within two weeks to enable residents access medical services.
Speaking to the press at Machakos town on Monday, Matuu Chamber of Commerce and Industry official Juda Ndawa said that the closure of the facility has inconvenienced residents.
He said that residents have to walk to Machakos in order to get health services, adding that the county government must ensure the facility is re-opened in the next two weeks.
“We have given a two-week ultimatum to Machakos County government to ensure the Matuu Level Four hospital is reopened,” he said.
Ndawa indicated that the local people have a right to demand better healthcare.
The official further asked the county government to put in place policies that will ensure residents have access to basic facilities.
He said that the county has enough resources that should be used to promote development and improve the living standards of the people.
