Kisumu County women group has urged the county government to empower them.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday Kisumu County women group leader Eunice Omollo said that women need to be empowered.

“We are urging the county government to allocate funds to empower women,” said Omollo.

Omollo said the funds will help to train women on their rights.

According to Omollo women lack proper facilitation due to neglect and lack of inclusion.

 She further challenged those in stakes to implement women empowerment by allocating funds to them, noting that through empowerment women would be more productive by initiating small business.

“We need to empower our women by allocating funds to facilitate their training. They would have acquired skills to initiate into ventures hence becoming productive,” said Omollo.

Rural gender sociologist Florence Atera noted that women are neglected in society challenging the county government to allocate funds to enhance their capability.

“Let’s help advocate for women empowerment. This will help to stir development in our nation,” said Atera.
