Gitothua Member of County Assembly (MCA) Patrick Chege has called on the Kiambu government to fast-track the repair and renovation of roads in the ward.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday at Mukuyu trading centre, the MCA said that some roads connecting the area are in poor state.

He said that business people and locals are being inconvenienced by poor road networks.

The Gitothua Ward representative feared that most roads will be rendered impassable once the anticipated El Nino rains commence.

Mr Chege urged the county roads department to immediately start repairing the roads.

“We are worried that our roads will be rendered impassable once the El-Niño rains start,” he said.

The MCA said that the county government has the mandate to oversee construction and repair of all infrastructures in the ward.

He also called on the county to unclog sewer and drainage systems in the area to enable easy flow of water.

He noted that poor drainage and sewer management systems threaten the sanitation standards of the area.
