Otara said that this was the only way to ensure that the young people were made relevant in the society instead of watching them rot away in drug addiction.

Speaking when she visited Riana village polytechnic on Thursday, She said that the youth polytechnics in the county were in a deplorable state after being neglected for too long.

“Our polytechnics are wanting and need to be improved since a majority of the youth in the county have not gone to college or university and the polytechnics would ensure they get hands-on skills to improve their lives,” she added.

She said by doing so the county will be able to fight drug addiction which has been on the rise among the unemployed youths in Kisii County.

She called upon the County governor to ensure he allocates more fund to the village polytechnics so that they can buy more equipment to offer quality training.
