The Kisumu County government has denied claims that it spent Sh2 million in constructing a pit latrine at a market in the county.
Trade, Tourism and Heritage Chief Executive Dr Rose Kisiah said the allegations leveled against the county government were false.
While speaking to this writer in an exclusive interview, Ms KIsiah said her ministry had never passed such a budget.
Claims that the county government had built a Sh2 million pit latrine emanated during a public participation forum in Nyang'ande market.
"No. No. My ministry has never allocated any money for such a project in that area," she said.
"Unless that is the MCA's kitty."
The four-door pit latrine is said to have been constructed at Kadete market in Nyando sub county.
Kabonyo Ward MCA Charles Aguko chaired the public forum where the concern was raised.
