The National Council of People Living with disabilities (NCPDK) has lauded the county government of Uasin Gishu for being at the forefront in advocating for the rights of people living with disabilities (PLWDs).

NCPD Uasin Gishu chairman Titus Yego has named setting aside of funds for the PLWD's by the county as one of the moves that have gone a long way towards improving their livelihoods In the last two financial year, the county government of Uasin Gishu allocated other sh40 million for the disabled in the county.

The county has also employed the deaf who are in charge of cleaning services at the county headquarters in Eldoret town.

"Support from the county government has seen many PLWD's livelihoods changed and we hope many good things are on the way," Yego said on Monday in Eldoret during the commemoration of annual People Living with Disabilities Day.

Newly appointed Education and Social Services County Executive who attended the event Joseph Kurgat said the county will continue supporting all the special needs groups.

"Issues to do with People living with disabilities fall under the national government but despite that, we will always work with this group and support them in any way we can so as to add value to their lives and the community as a whole," Kurgat said.
