A civil society group has accused the county government of Nakuru of ignoring public views when executing development projects.
The Center for Enhancement of Democracy and Good Governance, says most of the views given by members of the public before initiation of projects are normally looked down upon and ignored.
CEDGG programmes officer Regina Opondo said most projects which have been implemented or are being initiated by the county government have not factored in public views.
Speaking Sunday in Nakuru town, Opondo said the county government is violating the Constitution by ignoring public input in development.
"If you look around you will establish that most projects being implemented or the ones being done have not fully factored in the views of the public and that is a violation of the constitution," said Opondo.
"Members of the public give their views through public forums but these views are never considered by the county government," she added.
But on their part, the county government through Finance, Trade and Planning CeC Anne Njenga refuted the claims saying the county government has been organising public participation forums to collect views from members of the public before initiating any project.
"We must as directed by the Constitution always incorporate public views in any development project and that is exactly what we have been doing in all sub counties," she said.
"The truth is that you cannot include every persons view"she added.
