The residents of Ndalat village in Nandi County have threatened to sue the county government for allegedly supplying expired acaricides to Kapng’ombe cattle dip.
One of the farmers, Prisca Sultan, accused the county government officials of irresponsibility, saying that such occurrences may harm their animals.
“Where were the county officials when the expired chemicals were paid for and delivered to innocent farmers?” posed Sultan.
Another farmer claimed that the supplier wanted to bribe the veterinary officer in charge of the dip who alerted the residents after he turned down the supplier’s offer.
“They were telling the vet that the chemicals would still be used after six months of expiry. The chairman insisted that he was not taking the money at the expense of over 1,000 cattle,” the agitated farmers said.
The residents have now threatened to sue the county government saying that they want the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to probe the tendering process.
The acaricide, identified as Mostraz, had its expiry label dated February 2, 2016.
