Uasin Gishu County Government has launched mass anti-malaria net distribution in the County.
Director of Health Services Evans Kiprotich said this will help prevent malaria transmission to residents.
"We will be distributing 694,000 nets to over 1.2 million people in the County. 2 people in each household will get one net. We want to fight this disease once and for all," he said in Eldoret town after launching the mass net distribution exercise, Monday.
He reiterated that nets will be distributed to six sub counties that are Turbo, Kapsaret, Moiben, Keses, Soy and Ainabkoi.
"I want to urge Uasin Gishu County residents who registered for the net in August to come and collect them in the six Sub Counties, chiefs and sub chiefs offices respectively. The nets are being given free of charge," he added.
Kiprotich warned residents against using nets for fencing, rearing chicken among other.
"I want to give a stern warning to individuals with such behaviours that they risk arrest since a lot of money has been used to purchase them. Nets are meant to prevent individuals against getting malaria and not other uses," he said.
He advised Kenyans to always go for testing before taking any malaria drugs.
