Businesspersons in the county can now run their ventures with a unified business permit.

This comes after the Nairobi county government launched a single permit, which caters for various business needs starting this week.

The Unified business permit combines fire, business, signage and health permits among others depending on the venture one is running in different parts of the county.

In the past, the main single business permit required businesspersons to possess a business ID which was used in the application of fire, signage and health permits in the case of hoteliers.

But now according to the county officials, the new move is meant to ease the cost of running a business in different parts of the county.

"We want to ease the cost of doing business. Traders will not be required to apply for all these permits because it’s unfair to them," said a statement as quoted by the Star.

Also within the good new package is that a businessperson will take less than five minutes when applying for a single business permit.

Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke lauded the county for making such a progressive move as the officials look forward to the digitisation of revenue collection.

"We will launch it on Tuesday. It's something positive that residents should embrace because it goes a long way to improving their lives," Mueke said.
