Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago has said that the county government has put up necessary infrastructure that will ensure there is growth in the county economy.
The Governor also said that his government is aiming at ensuring that Eldoret town is expanded by 30 percent with all new investments by the end of this year.
“The County government is in talk with a number of potential investors so that we can lure them into coming and doing their investments in the county, hence growing the economy of this county. I assure you that the talks are at a very advanced stage,” said Mandago.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday while at his office, Governor Mandago said that the county government was closely working with the business community in the county, so that they can improve the business environment and attract more investors.
“We are talking to more investors so that they can come and tap the readily available opportunities here. The county government also is planning to use the Eldoret International Airport to increase the fresh produce exports,” he said.
“The airport capacity to handle very large cargos has also been increased to 1.2 million tonnes annually hence the capacity to increase the export of fresh produce. There is also new warehouses which have been built in the airport which is able to handle 250 tonnes,” added mandago.
The Governor urged the local people to use the available opportunities and venture into business.
“The local people have a great chance and opportunity in ensuring that the venture into business whenever they see an opportunity. My Government is fully committed at ensuring that this County becomes the best county in the country and also ensuring that the livelihoods of its residents are highly improved,” noted the Governor.
