Addressing journalists at the scene on Thursday, Nyamira County secretary Erick Onchana promised that the government will help the school rebuild the burnt dormitory.

"As a government we will assess the cost of rebuilding this dormitory and thereafter help the school in terms of capital so that the burnt down dormitory can be rebuild again," said Onchana.

Onchana either announced that the county government of Nyamira had used Sh700,000 in buying students belongings that had been burnt down to ashes.

"As you can see we have bought mattresses, blankets, water buckets, bed sheets and boxes for the affected 120 students as a way of helping the parents in terms of costs," added Onchana.

For sometime now, cases of fire outages in many schools in the county have been reported without the county government putting up measures to curb the same.
