Kisii County Government has said it is ready to repossess public land grabbed by greedy politicians and business people in the past.
According to the County Chief Officer for Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development Zablon Ongori, there are great parcels of land that have been grabbed by selfish people and they will repossess them.
“Last week we repossessed over two acres of land from a private developer, and the plot is now being used as a bus terminus for matatus plying the Kisii-Keroka and Kisii-Menyikwa routes. There are more parcels that have been identified and we are in the process to make sure the land is back to the county’s hands,” said Ongori.
He added that the county is committed to help the business community and soon they will get a common market place so that they can relocate them from the Central Business District (CBD).
“The county has enough land to carry out its development. We have already identified a second-hand traders and vendors land that they will use to carry out their business,” said the CeC.
