The county government of Uasin Gishu will Sh400 million on drainage systems and roads within Eldoret Town and in the rural areas.

This is in preparedness of the expected El~Nino rains.

Launching the drainage project at Langas, Roads CeC Eng Gideon Birir assured the resident that his department is ready to mitigate any effects that might be caused by abnormal rains.

Eng Birir was accompanied by Environment CeC Mary Wanjiku Njogu and Public Service Management CeC Margaret J. Chepkwony.

Njogu assured residents that the county government through her department will ensure that garbage collecting in the area is advanced. She also urged members of the public to ensure they do not dispose of garbage in the drainage system to avoid blocking.

Chekwony assured them that the county has all the medicines from Kemsa and that they will continue to ensure all health facilities are in good conditions and that doctors are there.

She promised that her department is ready to deal with water-borne and other illness that might occur due to heavy rains.
