The Youth Senate under the leadership of Nyambega Gisesa highlighted a few cases of corruption revolving around the Ministry of Health in which at least Sh500 million is believed to have been misappropriated through dubious tenders.

However, the statement released by Director Communications S. B. Maina dismissed the youth statement and accused Gisesa of being driven by ‘personal vendetta and anger’.

“The county government has noted the press statement being circulated in the social media on alleged corruption in the county and we treat it with contempt it deserves. However, the author of the report is driven by personal vendetta and anger because of well-known reasons,” read the statement.

“We urge members of the public to treat the report as sheer propaganda, full of malice because it is dragging the name of the first family member without substantial proof,” added the statement.

The county government accused Gisesa of using the youth platform to spearhead his personal interests and alleged that his actions are part of retaliatory attacks after missing out of Director Communications job.

“Gisesa is driven by personal anger for not being recruited as Director of Communications in the county government after it fell vacant and also that of Deputy Director Cooperate affair,” said the statement.

They challenged Gisesa and the team to report the corruption matters to the constitutional offices instead of narrowing it down to media confrontations.

“We know that he understands the law and therefore recommend that he reports any instances of corruption to investigative institutions. Otherwise his political views and criticism are welcome but in a constructive manner,” added the statement.
