Uasin Gishu government plans to mobilise its workers in the revenue collection department to reach the Sh1 billion mark each financial year as it seeks to improve service delivery.
Speaking in his office on Wednesday Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno said the county government is working hard to ensure that all revenue is collected and the loop holes of corruption are sealed to achieve its target.
"Uasin Gishu government has employed 130 workers who will be deployed in all sub-counties to help in revenue collection and ensure that all businesses in have permits. We have also bought five vans that will ferry the staff to all parts of the county thus cases of people evading to pay taxes, permits will be a thing of the past,” he said.
He reiterated that Uasin Gishu County is in the process of automating all its revenue collection system.
"I understand that there are many corruption loop holes in revenue collection where millions of money are siphoned by few self centered individuals but we are working hard to ensure that such cases become a thing of the past. Any county official who will be found taking bribes will be arrested and prosecuted," he added.
