Kisii county government has started the rehabilitation of the parking areas within Kisii town.
The upgrading of the parking kicked off on Tuesday after motorists complained of the bad parking areas regardless of them paying the parking few daily.
Contractor John Bitange said that the upgrading will ensure that the motorists enjoy the value of their parking fee.
"The county government has set aside funds to ensure all the parking areas in town are made. This will benefit the motorists and make the town look good too," said Mr Bitange.
Several parking lots in town were demolished to pave way for a better construction of a modern parking with will accommodate more vehicles.
Motorists have appreciated the projects as they will hustle no more for parking space.
"This is a good initiative to ensure every motorist gets parking space," said Andrew Mongare, a taxi driver.
"After rehabilitation is complete in the parking areas, we will commence on the footpaths which will be made to ensure pedestrian don't share the same lanes with the vehicles," said Mr Bitange.
Late last year, motorists had warned the county government against charging them the parking fee yet they were not worth.
