Farmers in Kiambu County are receiving subsidised fertiliser from Kiambu County Government through the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
This is in a bid to boost farming and food security in the area. For the fertiliser which normally cost Sh3,500 – 3800 per 50Kg bag, farmers in Kiambu are getting it at Sh1,800.
“The county government through the department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries has embarked on an ambitious programme to ensure every farmer in Kiambu has access to fertiliser in preparation for the rainy season," said John Njenga, the area agriculture chief officer.
"Availing farm inputs such as certified seeds, fertiliser and other planting materials has been our core mandate to ensure we have sufficient food in our county," he added.
CAN, Urea and DAP fertilisers are also being supplied to farmers at subsidised prices.
