Speaking during a public forum on sanitation in Nakuru, the county public health officer Samuel King’ori said rampant cases of collapsing toilets is attributed to poor soil texture in most parts of the county.

King’ori said the county government is coming up with measures to curb such accidents.

“We will be constructing modern pit latrines to curb such accidents especially in schools. The toilets will be constructed with strong foundation inside the pit. At the same time we will educate the public on how to build them,” said King’ori.

He said that such measures will ensure that the public is well trained on best ways of constructing toilets to avoid accidents especially during rainy seasons.

He said collapsing toilets has over the years been a challenge and finding a lasting solution to the porous soil in most parts of the county has not been easy.

"We want to ensure that our people are secure from disasters," said Kingori.
