The Machakos County government has pledged to give funds for the burial of three men who were lynched by residents in Kathiani Sub County.
The support will be given through the Ministry of Special Programmes.
The three men were burned to death by angry residents for allegedly robbing one of the residents.
Police investigations however show that the three were innocent and it was a case of mistaken identity.
Member of County Assembly for Upper Kaewa Ward Alphonce Wambua said that the county government will finance all the arrangements for the burial of the three.
“I have spoken to the county government and it has promised to take care of all the expenses for the warm send-off of the three innocent young men,” he said.
Wambua added, “The police investigations have shown that the suspects were innocent and they were not connected to any criminal practices.”
The residents have been urged to shun mob justice as it is against the law and it may lead to killing of innocent Kenyans. The three victims will be buried in one grave in Kathiani Sub County.
