Funds to hire more than 300 medical staff have been set aside by the county government of Uasin Gishu County.
Speaking to the press yesterday while at his office in Eldoret town, deputy governor Daniel Chemno said that they wanted to increase the number of 300 medical staffs to 1,300 staffs.
"The number will increase from 1,000 to 1,300 staffs but we will still remain with a short of about 200 staffs. We have already set aside funds meant to expand our hospitals, as well as purchase new equipment,” Chemno said.
Chemno went on to tell the press that the county government had also set aside Sh200 million for the expansions of all the health centers and also the dispensaries within the county.
“The county has at the moment has more than 110 health facilities lacking adequate staff. The county government will also need more health workers so as to ensure that there is an improved service to all the residents of the county. Part of the fund which has been set aside will also be used to ensure there is adequate supply of drugs in the hospitals and dispensaries,” Chemno said.
Chemno called upon all the leaders to support the county government in ensuring that it meets its promises to the people of Eldoret.
"I call upon all the leaders in this county to ensure that they put the people of Eldoret first and ensure that adequate service is provided at all times,” Chemno said.
