The County CeC in charge of Culture, Sports and Social Services Ibrahim Moiro has disclosed that the Home which was formerly under the jurisdiction of the defunct Kisii Municipal Council should now be managed by the County government.

Speaking after the Kisii County Assembly Lands Committee led by Charles Nyagoto and Pius Abuki, Moiro called for fast-tracking of the transfer of ownership documents to ascertain how the Society came to get ownership of the land where the Home is located at Jogoo Estate in Kisii town.

"Former civic leaders have disclosed that the Home was under the jurisdiction of the defunct Kisii Municipal Council  and there is need to have the Home's ownership reverted to the County government to avert the land on which it is constructed from being grabbed," stated Moiro.

Nyagoto also said that his committee had embarked on identifying all public land that had been grabbed or irregularly allocated to individuals and make sure they are repossessed by the County government for its development projects.

He said the plot on which the Home is built is one of the several public plots grabbed and the committee had stated to take an inventory of public land grabbed or irregularly allocated to individuals to have them reverted to the public for development purposes.

"This Home is on the public utility land and as a committee we are interrogating its ownership and ensuring that it is repossesed by the County Government for public use," added Nyagoto.
