The demolition of unsafe structures in the city-county is set to resume after a periodic halt following reports of insecurity.
On Wednesday, City Hall Lands executive, Christopher Khaemba announced that police IG, Joseph Boinett has deployed fifteen armed police officers to offer security for the NYS personnel who will be conducting the exercise.
Khaemba further said the county has already secured three excavators, two from the Youth Service and another one from a private firm.
The demolitions came to a month-long halt after NYS director general raised concerns about the security of his servicemen and women.
The demolition notice was issued following the tragic incident where a building in Huruma estate collapsed killing 51 people.
Nairobi county government has identified dozens of unsafe and illegally erected houses that are to be demolished in across county.
The houses were popularly found to be unfit for habitation after findings emerged that they were built without any approval by the Nairobi county government, the National Environmental Management Authority (Nema) or the National Construction Authority.
