The county government of Nyamira has been urged to construct car washing shades in a bid to help young people be engaged in the business. Speaking on Thursday, Chepilat MCA Alfayo Mongeresa challenged the county leadership to consider setting up shades as a way of also increasing revenue collection. He said the business was thriving in the town due to increased number of vehicles attributed to workers deployed in the county to work in different departments. “Revenue collection is necessary for prosperity of this county. We can only succeed if we utilise all avenues of resource collection through taxation,” Mongeresa said. “The county government should consider building shades for car washers so that they can work in confortable places. This will not only motivate them but also increase revenue collection,” he said. The flamboyant MCA with and interest in real estate proposed at least five car washing shades to be placed strategically in the outskirts of the town. His remarks on tax collection were, however, not received well by car washing businessmen who accused the county government of lacking focus. “I think they are very idle and should get something to do. How can you construct shades for us and introduce new tax rates for us. It is their obligation to work for us and whatever small we have been paying is enough,” said William Onyando.
