Led by Matuu chamber of commerce and industry chairman Judas Ndawa, the residents lamented that they have been depending on private hospital mortuary, Matuu mediance which at times closes because it can't accommodate more bodies.

Ndawa said that the private mortuary caters for the two sub-counties hence causing congestion of bodies. He added that sometimes the residents are forced to take the bodies of their beloved ones to Kitui level four hospital, Machakos level five hospital and Thika level five hospital mortuaries and the journey is tiresome.

"We depend on Matuu mediance hospital mortuary which is small and can't accommodate many bodies thus causing congestion and closing down for sometime," said Ndawa.

"Last month, the administration closed its doors and refused to take more bodies where the residents were forced to travel extra miles to find mortuaries to preserve the bodies of their loved ones," he added.
