Speaking to journalists in Thika town on Tuesday, Wamaitha said that the site could be a major source of employment to Thika youths if it could be rehabilitated and improved to attract both local and international tourists.

"County governments have a cardinal responsibility of ensuring that they build and promote tourism in their counties. Here in Kiambu we have the Fourteen Falls which I don't think we have been utilizing well to accrue maximum benefits," Wamaitha said.

Wamaitha said that the county should seek to invest on building modern tourist facilities like hotels, lodges among others at the site which are currently non-existent saying they would not only provide jobs to local youths but also be a source of much-needed income to the county government.

"Fourteen Falls are known worldwide but we cannot expect to earn much from the major tourist attraction in the county when even the sanitation facilities at the site are in a deplorable condition, no clean water and many other auxiliaries are missing," she added.

The MCA also asked the county government to do the same on other tourist attractions in the county saying that it needs to cast its net wider in terms of revenue collection to be able to provide essential services to Kiambu County residents.
