[Photo|CGK]The County government of Kisumu has confirmed that an early morning fire gutted down Dream City Guest House in Kondele, consuming two lives.The source of the fire that started at around 4 am on Wednesday is yet to be established. "At the time of the tragedy, the hotel had an occupancy of 9 persons, whom have all been accounted for," read a communication from the county government.Governor Prof Anyang Nyong'o's administration lauded efforts of the entire County leadership led by Deputy Governor Dr Ochieng' Owili, the Fire Department and Disaster Management team for their prompt response in managing the situation. "We laud the great people of Kisumu County who came out in large numbers to assist in the rescue mission, the media family for keeping the country aptly informed, Red Cross and the Kenya Police for the unwavering support given."The rescue process led to the injuries of two fire brigades and one volunteer who were treated at the County Hospital and discharged. "Our condolences goes to friends and relatives of the bereaved families."
